Lighter, crash-proof and air-resistant aircraft ballistic impacts

The approach of lightening in the aeronautics was concretized by the introduction of innovative structural composite materials into the manufacture of different elements such as crankcases or fan blades, but it concerns all the constituents devices, including the tank which represents one of the essential components for aircraft vehicles (helicopters, drones, unmanned planes). The objectives are to reduce the weight of the tank, or to be able to increase the distances traveled with the same amount of energy or having the opportunity to carry additional passengers. Identified needs for aircraft tanks are: to develop lightweight tanks with increased service life (currently 15 years), multifunctional. The reduction in the cost of production of reservoirs is also sought. Moreover, the technologies used for the production of this reservoir must be controlled by environmental impact. The Balloo project, FUI project piloted by the company Pronalet supervised by the DGA, is born from this desire to create an innovative reservoir, while remaining within the scope of MIL-DTL-27422E. This standard introduces several levels of performance of the final product. But all certifications include at least one drop test. tank in free fall) and a « gun fire test » (on the ability many reservoirs are currently pockets elastomers protected by a metal structure. This last one is responsible for protecting the elastomer pocket during the various constraints suffered especially during crashes. In order to absorb structural deformations, the company PRONAL has expertise in the development of flexible tanks.
